E. McKnight Kauffer, Greece Fights On (1942), £500
Greek Office of Information, New York City
Lynton Lamb, Grand Junction Canal (1938), 24.5x 18.5 in, £450
In 1936 John Piper and Robert Wellington with the support
of the Curwen Press founded Contemporary Lithographs to publish
original autolithographic prints by among others Edward Bawden,
Eric Ravilious, John and Paul Nash, Graham Sutherland and John
Piper himself. The announced edition of these prints was 400
copies, but their rarity today suggests that fewer were printed,
or more likely, most were destroyed during the blitz in 1940
when Curwen was bombed.
Laurence Scarfe, Wartime is Hometime (1940),
£450
