Christopher Wormell was born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire in 1955. His childhood was spent in London where his father John Wormell was head of painting at Hornsey School of Art. After leaving school in 1973, he drew and painted with his father, and made several journeys through the British countryside painting topographical watercolours. He now lives in London.

Working in an English tradition dating from Thomas Bewick [Three Dogs], in 1982 he began to engrave on boxwood. Since 1983 has worked as a full time illustrator. His books include the Blue Rabbit series for children.
